Correa’s childhood dream was to join Inter

The Argentinean striker realized his dream when he made a move to the Nerazzurri: ‘I didn’t want to go anywhere else.’

Joaquin Correa

made a move to

Inter

from

Lazio

on a loan deal that includes an obligation to purchase for €30m.

Many clubs, including

Everton

and

Arsenal

, had targeted the Argentina international over the summer. The ex-Lazio striker, however, was keen on joining Inter and he revealed the reason behind his decision during an interview with

DAZN

, as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

As a child, I wanted to come here at all costs. It was too important to me,

” the 27-year-old said.

“When I was playing in Argentina, I heard about the interest from Inter, but I didn’t leave my club. It was beautiful [to join Inter] because I was a child who dreamed of playing here.”

The 27-year-old reunited with ex-Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi under whom he met the back of the net 30 times in 117 games.

It was so important [to reunite with Inzaghi]. Coming here to Inter was already a dream for me, then when I received his call, I had no doubt, I did not want to be anywhere else,”

the striker revealed.

“I received a warm welcome, everybody made me feel at home and I’ve understood what Inter is. This jersey is heavy and too important.

“We aim to do the best in every competition, we have a great team. I won’t mention any title, but we want to win every game. It’s easier when you play with these players, I have fun, and I always receive great service.”

Correa has also featured for Sampdoria, finding the target three times in 31 games before making a move to Sevilla on an €18m deal.

After his two-year spell in Spain, he has returned to Serie A, penning a contract with Lazio. He will have his Inter debut when they go against Bologna today.
