Havertz auctioning off boots for Germany flood victims’ benefit

The Blues star is going to have 100 pairs of specially-designed football boots auctioned off to raise funds for Germany’s flood victims.

More than 180 people died during last month’s floods, which influenced Nord-Rhein Westfalen, including Aachen, where

Kai Havertz

was born.

The

Chelsea

star is donating about £175,000 aside from the boot auction and he is going to wear a pair of boots in the Super Sunday battle against

Arsenal

.

Havertz designed the boots and they are a representative of Nord-Rhein Westfalen’s flag, with green, white and red colors.

"

We just want to raise money with it, so that people can buy the shoes, and the boot is maybe a symbol of my support and my respect to people who lost everything,"

Havertz said.

"My family lives in the area and we know that there are so many homeless people. They lost everything and they don't have a place to sleep, or there are houses without electricity and people that don't have food or clothes."

The 22-year-old revealed that he has been thinking more about climate change and what can be done to help the problem.

"

I'm a guy who loves nature and who loves animals,"

he added.

"I want to learn much about climate change in the next couple of years, because I think we are humans and we can change it."
