Tottenham considering swoop for Maksimovic in summer
Tottenham are reportedly keen on Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic to upgrade their options at center-back for the next season.
Maksimovic
could be a decent option for the
Spursand the North London giants are considering him as one of a number of options to strengthen Spurs’ defense line.
The 29-year-old’s current contract with
Napoliexpires this summer and he is likely to leave the Partenopei.
Spurs could have signed Maksimovic in the January transfer window, although it is unclear whether Napoli would let him go in the middle of the season.
Napoli will only sell him in January in case they can find a replacement before the end of next week.
The defender has been in and out of the starting XI for Napoli in Serie A this term and only played eight Serie A games for Gennaro Gattuso’s side.
Maksimovic has been free to negotiate directly with foreign clubs over a summer switch since the beginning of January.
Tottenham could face competition for Maksimovic’s signature given the fact he is available on a free transfer.
