Bologna coach after their loss to Juve: 'It’s the usual problem'

Bologna head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic sees 'the usual problem' for the match against Juventus, as they 'lacked at the psychological level' and their finishing touches.

The Red & Blues had many scoring chances at Allianz Stadium, yet were defeated 2-0 by a diverted Arthur shot and Weston McKennie header on a corner kick.

“We didn’t believe enough in the first half, as they were playing below par and we didn’t raise the tempo either,” Mihajlovic said after the match.

“I think the equaliser was in the air, but then during our best moment, we conceded from a corner. Juve deserved it, we did well, but were always lacking something to finish those chances.

“We did try to press them, and Arthur could’ve had a second yellow card for a tactical foul to change things even at 2-0.

“It’s the usual problem, we get into the final third and then don’t make the right choice, the right pass, the right shot. It’s frustrating. At the same time, Wojciech Szczesny also made a few fantastic saves.

“If we had a player who had more of a presence in the box, it might see us not create as many chances, so it’s a balancing act.

“I know we will put in the performance on a technical level, but it’s the psychological level where we are lacking. We need more belief, more courage, to take responsibility and be more determined in front of goal.

“We are working with Musa Barrow, because we know he’s not a centre-forward naturally, but he will improve in training over the next seven to 10 days. He is learning from Rodrigo Palacio and I am sure he’s got goals in his blood, we just need to give him the right service and hone his movements.”

Emanuel Vignato was subbed at half time after a dangerous tackle in the penalty area on Juan Cuadrado.

“Vignato kept worrying about Cuadrado, but he wasn’t meant to be tracking him, it was supposed to be Mitchell Dijks. He’s a kid, he’s learning, he was too focused on defending and not enough going forward.”

Bologna currently sits in 13th position in

Serie A

, with 20 points out of 19 matches.
