Official: Dele Alli completes loan move to Besiktas from Everton

The former Tottenham midfielder who joined the Toffees from Tottenham last January failed to impress Frank Lampard, Alli is set to spend the next season on loan at Turkish Süper Lig.

Everton

has agreed to pay a portion of

Dele Alli

's wages as he officially joins

Besiktas

on a one-year loan deal as he hopes the regular game time he gets will convince

Gareth Southgate

to give him a spot in England's squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Despite making 11 appearances for Everton last season as they escaped from the

Premier League

relegation, the 26-year-old attacking midfielder started only one of them. Clearly out of

Frank Lampard

’s favor, he has only made two bench appearances this season as the club tries to dodge a financial bullet by sending him on loan to the

Turkish Süper Lig

side.

After joining

Tottenham

from MK Dons in 2015, the 25-year-old scored 67 goals and assisted 55 times in 269 appearances. However, he fell out of the pecking order once

Jose Mourinho

took the reign from Mauricio Pochettino at the dugout.

Although Everton signed Alli on what was essentially

a free transfer last January

, they are obliged to pay

the Spurs

£10 million once he had played 20 games across all competitions and another £30 million if performance-related add-ons were met.

A key member of the

England

team that reached the semi-finals at Russia 2018 scoring in their 2-0 quarter-final victory against Sweden, Alli's performances got him omitted from last year's squad for Euro 2020.
