Man City target Bastoni's agent warns Inter amid contract negotiations

Long being monitored by Premier League duo Manchester City and Tottenham, the Italy international's current contract with Inter is due to expire in 2024. With Inter yet to reach an agreement with the player, Bastoni's agent warns the Nerazzurri about the defender's future.

Joining Inter from Atalanta for a reported €31m fee in 2017, Alessandro Bastoni was a cornerstone for Inter's defensive line making 100 appearances for the Nerazzurri. Winning a Scudetto and a Coppa Italia with Inter, the 23-year-old centre-back has long been sought by PSG, Juventus, Man City and the Spurs.

Earlier, Tuttosport reported there is a significant gap between the player's demand and Inter's offer. Speaking to

, Bastoni's agent Tullio Tinti warned Inter about his client's future.

“I have never pushed a player to run down his contract and become a free agent, it was the clubs who did that,”

said Tinti.

“Clearly, it takes two to reach an agreement on a contract. When a player has only a year left on his deal and can legitimately say he wants to wait, it gets all the headlines. When a club leaves a player waiting until the last minute, that is considered normal.

“At times, a player doesn’t sign because he was made to wait too long or because the club was not interested in giving him a new contract. When people behave in a fair manner, I don’t think it becomes a problem.”
