But which matches should you be looking out for in Europe this weekend?

Napoli vs Juventus – Friday

The Masters of Italian football vs the Scudetto hopefuls, record champions Juventus will travel to Napoli to face the Serie A leaders in a potentially season-defining clash.

After an imperious start to the campaign, Napoli suffered their first defeat of the season against Inter Milan recently and have begun to show signs of frailties.

One side who knows what it takes to lift Serie A are, of course, Juventus, who themselves have bounced back from their early-season struggles.

While the off-the-pitch circus continues to make headlines in Turin, Massimiliano Allegri’s side have shown form on the field and could claw themselves back into the Scudetto race with a victory at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Friday night.

Manchester United vs Manchester City – Saturday

One of two big derby clashes in the Premier League this weekend, Manchester United will welcome local rivals Manchester City to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a disastrous start in charge, Erik ten Hag has transformed United’s fortunes in a short space of time, with a Champions League finish now the target.

For City, their objective remains the same, with Pep Guardiola’s side eyeing up another Premier League title.

Targeting a historic three-peat in the league, City’s title hopes could be impacted by Saturday’s game, with a big Manchester Derby install at Old Trafford.

Ajax vs FC Twente – Saturday

Following ten Hag’s departure from Ajax in the summer, along with various star players, the competitiveness of the Eredivisie has increased massively, with a five-way title challenge beginning to take shape.

Two of the sides in the mix are perennial challengers Ajax and FC Twente, who themselves won the title under Steve McClaren in 2009/10.

It remains the only time Twente have ever won the title in their history, with the club from Enschede in the Netherlands hoping to be in the mix this season.

The last time anyone other than Ajax won the Dutch title was in 2018 and the Amsterdam outfit’s grip on the Eredivisie looks like it could be loosened soon.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal – Sunday

Before a ball was kicked in the Premier League this season, there were some tipping Tottenham Hotspur for a title challenge.

Approaching the halfway point of the campaign, it’s their rivals Arsenal who lead the way, with Mikel Arteta keen to end the Gunners’ two-decade wait for a league title.

After being pipped to the top four following defeat in the north London derby last season, Arsenal rectified that result earlier in the campaign with a triumphant 3-1 victory over Spurs at the Emirates Stadium.

With Spurs in the midst of a top-four battle themselves, expect the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to be rocking on Sunday evening ahead of a crucial north London derby.
