Agent claims Emi Martinez is 'targeting the Champions League'

World Cup Golden Glove winner Emiliano Martinez apparently targets European football

In the wake of his World Cup final heroics,

Emiliano Martinez

has been subject to many transfer discussion as the Aston Villa shot-stopper was once again the hero for Argentina on a big occasion. And much to Villa’s dismay Martinez’s agent, Gustavo Doni, doesn’t rule out a future transfer for the World Cup star.

Much like last year’s Copa America, Martinez came in clutch for Argentina when they needed him the most. After his heroics against Netherlands on penalties, Martinez had a banger of a performance against France in the final as he saved a last-minute shot from Kolo Muani that ensured the game went to penalties and subsequently saved a penalty from Kingsley-Coman, to bring the World Cup back to Argentina for a third time.

Talking to Tuttomercato, Martinez’s agent Doni said:

"There are few clubs right now who could afford a goalkeeper like him. But Serie A, why not? Clearly, he is aiming high and targeting the Champions League."

Having been a part of Arsenal academy for nearly a decade, Martinez helped Arsenal win the FA Cup in 2020 before moving to Aston Villa a few months later. His current contract with the

Villains

runs until 2027, which means Villa has all the card if a potential transfer was to happen.
