Tottenham slams €20m price-tag on Villarreal target, Lo Celso

Failing in living up to expectations since his €48m move from Real Betis, the Spurs are reportedly open to selling their Argentine midfielder this summer for a €20m fee with the Yellow Submarines appearing as a likely destination.

The 26-year-old had a hard time making his way to

Antonio Conte

’s plays last season, but he was a crucial player under the reign of Unai Emery at La Ceramica.

After joining

Tottenham

on a season-long loan with a €48m option to buy in 2019, the Argentine quickly fell down the pecking orders as he spent the second half of last season on loan at

Villarreal

as the Yellow Submarines were eager to purchase the Argentina international last summer. Failing to do so, Villarreal came on terms to purchase the Argentine for another season on loan last summer, without any option to buy.

However,

Estadio Deportivo

reports that Lo Celso is likely to take a central part in Quique Setien's project at Villarreal as the Premier League outfit eyes a €20m fee for the Argentine next summer.

Lo Celso

climbed down Antonio Conte’s pecking order as Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp, Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr were all above him. Therefore he decided to depart the club and re-join the Spanish side after meeting the back of the net one time and contributing one assist in 16 La Liga matches for the Yellow Submarine last season. His loan deal has no purchasing option and he has three years left on his contract with Tottenham.
