Barca terminate Pjanic deal by mutual consent

The Blaugrana have terminated their contract with Miralem Pjanic since the club’s makeover went past the transfer deadline.

Barcelona

pronounced on Wednesday that

Miralem Pjanic’

s deal has been terminated on mutual agreement, with his deal going to expire at the end of this season. He will make a move to Sharjah FC in the United Arab Emirates.

Barcelona had a chaotic summer as they penned contracts with Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde while having a hard time balancing their budget.

Pjanic appeared in 30 matches after making a move from Juventus in 2020 but he spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Besiktas.

"FC Barcelona and Miralem Pjanic have reached an agreement to release the player from the contract binding the player to the club until the end of the 2023/24 season,"

Barcelona said in a statement.

"The club publicly expresses its gratitude to the player for his professionalism, dedication and commitment and for always adapting his contract to the club's situations and needs. It wishes him every success and fortune in the future.

Pjanic will be join Paco Alcacer, who is also a former Barcelona player at Sharjah FC.

The Blaugrana are still clearing out as Pjanic joins Philippe Coutinho, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite in departing Camp Nou. He did not live up to the expectations at the Catalans, and he also had a feud with Ronald Koeman.

Barca will have their Champions League campaign started on Wednesday as they lock horns with Viktoria Plzen.
