Arsenal prioritising Zinchenko transfer after missing out on Martinez

Arsenal's interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko has grown, but they have a lot of competition for the star player from Manchester City.

90min has heard that Arsenal's interest in

Oleksandr Zinchenko

has grown, but they have a lot of competition for the star player from

Manchester City

.

Even though Zinchenko was happy at City, 90min said in June that he might leave the club if offered a regular spot somewhere else in the middle of the field.

The 25-year-old has mostly played as a left-back at the

Etihad Stadium

. On the last day of the season, he helped City come back from being down 2-0 to beat Aston Villa 3-2, which gave them their fourth Premier League title in five years.

But he has always wanted to play in midfield, which he does for Ukraine at the international level, and Arsenal may be able to give him that opportunity. The Gunners have been interested in Zinchenko for a long time, but their desire to make a deal has grown since Manchester United beat them to the signing of Ajax's Lisandro Martinez, who can play at center back, full back, and in midfield.

Arsenal

mostly sees Zinchenko as a midfielder, but his ability to cover on the left would be a huge help for Mikel Arteta, who worked with the player for many years as City's assistant manager.

Because of their friendship, Arsenal hopes Zinchenko will follow Gabriel Jesus to the Emirates Stadium. However, 90min has heard that up to six Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Newcastle, and Wolves, have asked about Zinchenko's availability.

Milan, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund are all keeping an eye on his situation. However, 90min believes that a fee of more than £30 million would be needed to get City to sell.

City is already looking for a left-sided defender to replace Nathan Ake, who is going to

Chelsea

, and talks are still going on with

Marc Cucurella

of Brighton and Hove Albion. The Spaniard is their top choice, but 90min has learned that if Zinchenko leaves, they will also look for another player to replace him.
