FC Porto confirm €40m deal to sell Fabio Vieira to Arsenal
FC Porto has confirmed that they have reached a deal with Arsenal to sell Fabio Vieira for an initial fee of €35 million.
There were rumors earlier this week that
Arsenalwere interested in the attacking midfielder, and things have moved quickly since then.
On Thursday,

said that the two clubs had agreed on a price for the player: €35 million upfront, plus €5 million in possible add-ons. On Friday morning,
Portoconfirmed the deal.
"Football Clube do Porto – Futebol, SAD, in accordance with article 248o no. 1 of the Securities Code, hereby informs the market that it has reached a principle of agreement with Arsenal FC for the assignment, on a permanent basis, of the registration rights of professional football player Fábio Vieira for €40M, of which €5M are contingent on the achievement of sporting goals.
Even though Vieira's contract said he could leave for €50 million, Arsenal was able to convince Porto to take their lower offer. The 22-year-old had a great season in 2021/22, scoring six goals and setting up 14 others in only 15 starts. Even though he usually plays in the attacking midfield position, he can also play on either wing.
