Ukraine-Scotland World Cup qualifier postponed by UEFA’s Ceferin

The national had requested for a postponement due to the Ukraine-Russia incident and will most likely receive it until the summer.

Aleksander Ceferin

has made it certain that

Ukraine

can have their Qatar 2022 play-off against

Scotland

will be played later in June, as per reports from

Darijo Srna

, the

Shakhtar Donetsk

director of football.

The nation wanted a postponement because of the crisis between Ukraine and Russia after Vladimir Putin invaded the Eastern European nation in February.

UEFA is certainly going to grant them this wish as they aim to qualify for the World Cup 2022, with Srna hailing their supremo for his support.

"

I spoke with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin again today,"

the former Croatia international stated.

"He has stood up for Ukrainian football.

"I understand that no one cares about football now, but he told me that the match between Ukraine and Scotland will be postponed to June.

"I contacted him when war broke out to ask for help. He personally helped to organise a train to get the players out of the country. He promised he would help the players and he has been as good as his word."

Ukraine will be given an opportunity to put football on another side as the conflict continues in their country.

Russia, on the other hand, were handed suspension from international action and will not feature against Poland in their qualifier for the World Cup this month.
