Two men arrested for racist abuse against Celtic forward

Police arrests two men for racially abusing Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi.

had been the victim of racist abuse on social media, and now Police Scotland has arrested two men charged with hate crimes. A video was circulating online that contained racially offensive content, and police forces immediately acted upon the incident, and now they have released a statement on the matter.

A statement from the force read:

"Police Scotland has arrested and charged two men in connection with an alleged hate crime directed towards a Celtic Football Club player following reports of a video circulating online that officers were made aware of on Monday, 23 August, 2021.

"The men, one aged 30 and one aged 26, have been released on an undertaking and are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court at a later date. A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

And the player himself has reacted to the incident with confidence, and the club’s head coach Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that the player is okay despite experiencing offensive behavior.

He told Sky Sports News:

"Kyogo is good, he's a very positive young man and he understands that this kind of behavior directed towards him is a kind of thing that a lot of people have to deal with.

"He's not going to let that tarnish his whole experience here because if you speak to him I'm sure he'd say that he's loving every bit of being part of this football club and living in this country."

The Japan international has been an important player for the Hoops scoring a hat-trick in his debut and scoring seven goals in seven games, impressing the fans with his performance; he is expected to improve in the following parts of his spell at Scotland football.
