Neymar, the orphan of the field, and the team’s dreams are mourned by his absence

The drama of the injury and its effects on the path of the Brazilian star and the future of the leader in a season fraught with challenges

The Brazilian star Neymar, who moved to Al Hilal Saudi Club in a big deal last August, cannot participate in the preparation phase for the next season. This is due to his inability to return to competitive play before at least next September, due to his injury that he suffered in the cruciate ligament and the articular cartilage of his left knee in an international match last October.

While Al Hilal was preparing for a successful season that witnessed a series of consecutive victories and its arrival to an advanced stage in the championships, coach Jorge Jesus confirmed Neymar’s unpreparedness to participate in the preparatory stage for the new season. Jesus pointed out that the recovery period for Neymar and players with similar injuries usually ranges between 10 to 11 months, which means that it is unlikely that Neymar will return to participate from the beginning of the season.

Although Neymar’s expected return is in September or October, this does not mean that he will be competitively ready immediately. Neymar suffered a serious injury in his left knee during his country’s match against Uruguay in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Because of this injury, Neymar will be absent from Al Hilal in local championship matches, including the Saudi Super Cup championship and Saudi League matches. Although his absence poses a challenge to the team, Al Hilal was able to achieve great successes during his absence, thanks to the performance of other players such as Malcolm and Carlos Eduardo.

Al Hilal has won several local championships, including the Saudi Super Cup and the Saudi League, and has achieved a series of consecutive victories without loss. It also became the first team to score 96 goals in one season and also the team that received the fewest goals in the league.

Although Al Hilal was eliminated from the continental competition, coach Jesus believes that the season was exceptional and that overcoming the difficulties came thanks to the quality of the players and their cohesion as one team.
