Belgium’s Castagne out of Euro 2020 after suffering eye socket injury

The Leicester City defender was taken to hospital after he collided heavily with Daler Kuzyaev during his side's clash against Russia.

’s involvement in the tournament. The 25-year-old suffered a double fracture in his eye socket after clashing heads with

Daler Kuzyaev

. In a post-match interview, Belgium boss

Roberto Martinez

confirmed the defender won’t be available for the rest of the competition.

"Really bad news, sad to see Timothy Castagne is going to be out of the tournament,"

Martinez said after the game.

"He's had images taken, he's got a double fracture, and now we'll take the necessary treatment."

Jan Vertonghen

was also forced off the pitch in the 77th minute of the game. However, the 34-year-old’s injury is not serious and he is expected to be available for his side’s upcoming fixtures.

Martinez added:

"Jan Vertonghen has a typical football injury, an ankle knock that we're going to wait 48 hours to see the extent of, but I don't expect that to be too serious."

Belgium, who placed themselves on top of the Group B standings after the first matchday, will continue the group stage with two matches against

Denmark

and

Finland

on June 17 and 21.
