Marotta believes that tournaments must be reduced

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has spoken clearly about the situation of heavy schedule for the players

It's been a very tough year for the football world since the Coronavirus outbreak. The Football was off for a couple of months and then they pushed the games to finish the leagues early. Due to having a heavy schedule a lot of players have been injured and some were infected by the virus and it made the situation for the clubs even more difficult.

Some managers have asked for the international games to be canceled so players and teams can focus on the domestic games with less pressure.

Marotta

believes so and has spoken clearly.

“This virus had a violent impact, in the first place for health, creating a state of alarm in each team,” he told VareseNews. “We face the feeling of fear, approaching the subject with ‘ignorance’, in the sense that we didn’t know what we were up against.

“Within the club, the priority was to secure the employees and players, adopting the protocol that gave guarantees.

“My idea was to be patient, take a detailed picture of the situation, and then resume the activity. The players tried to protect their families.”

“The great difficulty of the coaches is managing the planning of the matches. From a sporting point of view, we are in great difficulty.

“For this reason, I think that Serie A must be centralized, to not create different situations between the teams.

“It’s necessary to evaluate better the situations of individual athletes with a fruitful conversation between clubs and national teams, but also reduce the tournaments that have no relevance.

“I understand the importance of the European Championship and the World Cup, but we try to limit some games that have little value.”
