Pochettino:‌"Slonina can become one of the greatest keepers in the world"

Slonina joined Chelsea from Chicago Fire last season.

Slonina joined Premier League side

Chelsea

in August 2022 for a transfer price of $10 million, which may have increased to $11 million with add-ons. But as part of the deal, he spent the rest of the MLS campaign on loan with the Chicago Fire before joining Chelsea on January 2023.

Mauricio Pochettino, the new coach of Chelsea, believes that Slonina has the potential to become the best goalkeeper in the world.

"I think he is a young player that came from Chicago, of course I need to see more because he met us here on the tour, similar to Lesley. We need more time to discover how they are and of course, if the club sign it's because they believe in him and that he is a great talent and we need to decide if it is better to continue with us or what is the best way for him to grow and be one of the greatest keepers in the world."

he said.

Slonina made his first official appearance for the United States national team in January 2023.

He also played 43 matches for the Chicago Fire.
