Matthaus backs Tuchel to bring stability back to Bayern as he deems Nagelsmann 'too much trouble'

Lothar Matthaus claims Julian Nagelsmann created "too many problems" at Bayern Munich, and he believes that Thomas Tuchel, will bring stability to the team

After leading Bayern Munich to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and into the later stages of the DFB-Pokal, Nagelsmann was unexpectedly dismissed during the March international break, and Thomas Tuchel was hired as his replacement with a contract until 2025.

This decision came after Bayern lost their lead in the Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund following a defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. Some players, including Sadio Mane and Joao Cancelo, were reportedly pleased with Nagelsmann's departure as the dressing room became divided towards the end of his tenure.

Lothar Matthaus claims Tuchel's appointment will bring stability to Bayern, which was lacking under Nagelsmann.

"I assume that the team under Tuchel will be more stable again and that there will not be so many fluctuations in performance. Many games under Julian Nagelsmann were not Bayern-like, the fluctuations were too great. There was too much trouble,"

The Germany and Bayern legend said in an interview with Kicker.

Matthaus believes that

Bayern Munich

, under new coach Thomas Tuchel, will be able to handle the pressure of the upcoming Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, despite the latter's impressive form this year. The former Bayern player predicts that Tuchel's side will emerge victorious in the highly-anticipated match.

"Bayern will win because they are nervous, which is rarely pleasant for the opponent. Experience in games like this, the home advantage and the winning mentality speak in their favour,"

he said.
