‘Grateful’ Emery backs Arsenal to win the Premier League
Arteta’s predecessor Unai Emery has backed the Gunners to succeed in their quest to win the Premier League after 19 years.
Ahead of Arsenal’s away trip to
Aston Villa, the Villains boss Unai Emery has wished his former club Arsenal well in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
After having a flying first half of the season where they only lost a game in 19 matches, Arsenal have hit a bit of a rough patch recently as they are without a win in 3 matches. Unai Emery seeks to add to Arsenal woes, despite wishing them well in the title race.
Speaking ahead of the game, Emery said: "
Arsenal are a really good team in a very good moment. Their last matches won’t change the confidence, and how they are progressing, how they are playing and their possibilities to win the title this year."
He added:
"At Arsenal, I had very good experiences. I enjoyed it there. I was there for one and a half years. I’m so grateful to Arsenal, to the owners, to the supporters, to the players. But I’m very grateful to everybody here and I will use my experiences from my time at Arsenal and get better with Aston Villa."
Emery, who was sacked after only 18 months at
Arsenal, hopes to get a home win and go on points with Chelsea at the 10th spot, while the Gunners want to recapture the top spot again.
