Messi, Mbappe, Benzema named as finalists for The Best FIFA Men's Player award

FIFA has announced three finalists for the 2022 FIFA Best Men's Player award. FIFA will announce the winners at a ceremony on February 27.

Kylian Mbappe

, and

Karim Benzema

have been nominated for the 2022 FIFA Best Men's Player award.

FIFA revealed 14 nominees in January and three finalists were selected based on votes from national team coaches, captains, journalists, and fans.

Voting is based on players' performances between August 8, 2021 and December 18, 2022.

Lionel Messi is the favorite to win this award after helping Argentina to win their third World Cup title in Qatar. He scored seven goals during the tournament and won his second Golden ball award.

Karim Benzema who won last year's Ballon d'Or award has been named among the three finalists for the first time. Benzema scored 50 goals in 2022 and helped Real Madrid win La Liga and the Champions League.

Kylian Mbappe also scored 58 goals for PSG in 2022 and managed to win World Cup Golden Boot award with eight goals. The Frenchman scored a hat-trick in the final against Argentina.

Beth Mead, Alex Morgan, and Alexia Putellas also have been nominated for the 2022 FIFA Best Women's Player award.

Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, and Lionel Scaloni have been named as three finalists for the 2022 FIFA Best Men's Coach award.

Yassine, Bounou, Thibaut Courtois, and Emiliano Martínez have been nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award.
