Valencia to reappoint Nuno Espirito Santo as manager
Valencia announced the departure of Gennaro Gattuso as their head coach on Monday after only 18 matches in charge of the club last week. The club’s president is reportedly eager to bring back Nuno Espirito Santo.
Sitting only a point above the relegation zone with a game in hand and at the 17th spot,
Valencia
hasn’t been able to win any games after the World Cup. According to
Fichajes, in a bid to avoid relegation, Valencia president Peter Lim is eying to bring ex-Tottenham and Wolves boss
Nuno Espirito Santo
from the Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad.
The Bats might have to pay a sum of €6m to terminate the Portuguese coach's contract with the Arabian club, which is currently level with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr at the top of the league.
Nuno previously managed Valencia, taking over from Juan Antonio Pizzi in 2014. Leading the club to a fourth-place finish in his first year, he was named La Liga Manager of the Month three times. However, after a poor start to the season, the Portuguese resigned from his role in November 2015.
