Real Madrid 1-3 Barcelona: Gavi wins Barca the Super Cup

Real Madrid and Barcelona faced each other in Super Cup Final on Sunday in Saudi Arabia, with both sides eager to add silverware to their trophy cabinet. It was Xavi Hernandez’s side who was crowned as the Supercopa Espana champions.

overcame Valencia in the Super Cup's semi-final through a penalty shoot-out to face

Barcelona

in the finals, who also had proceeded with a penalty shoot-out victory over Real Betis in the semi-finals of the tournament that was held in Saudi Arabia.

Barcelona dominated the first half as

Gavi

opened up the scoresheet for the Blaugrana in the 33rd minute, finishing

Lewandowski

's assist. The Polish striker doubled Barca’s advantage before the half-time whistle as he tapped in Gavi’s brilliant cross. Madrid's only chance in the first half came through Karim Benzema, whose header went wide.

 Barcelona continued to dominate the game in the second half with Courtois denying chances from Dembele and Lewandowski. However,

Pedri

completed Barcelona's El Classico master performance in the 69th minute by finishing Gavi’s deflected cross after dispossessing Militao.

Benzema

pulled one back in the 93rd minute, however, it wasn't enough to make any difference in the match's outcome. The Blaugrana was crowned as the Super Cup’s champions in Saudi Arabia.
