Arsenal contact Barcelona over Raphinha after losing Mudryk to Chelsea

Arsenal is thinking about signing Barcelona forward after Chelsea hijacked deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk.

According to 90min and the Evening Standard,

Arsenal

has made contact with

Barcelona

to see whether a deal for

Raphinha

is possible. They also are interested in signing another Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.

Arsenal and Chelsea wanted to sign Raphinha last summer but he decided to join Barcelona. The reports suggest that Barcelona may be open to offers for the 26-year-old just six months after signing him from Leeds United.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to strengthen his attacking options and Shakhtar star Mykhaylo Mudryk was their top January target.

Arsenal was in negotiations with Shakhtar for a few weeks and believed they were on the verge of signing Ukraine international in a deal worth around £80m, but Chelsea hijacked the move on Saturday and reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk over a deal worth £97m.

90min claims that Barcelona forwards Raphinha and Torres were Arsenal’s alternatives to Mudryk and now they are ready to start the negotiations with Barcelona.

Raphinha, who joined Barcelona in a £55m deal, has scored just three goals in 22 matches for his new team. The Brazilian winger has just started seven La Liga matches. The former Manchester City player Ferran Torres also has started six matches and scored just two goals this season.

90min also report that Brighton's Leandro Trossard and Kaoru Mitoma are on Arsenal's radar and they may make a move for them in the January transfer window.
