Pioli fuming at Milan’s mistakes after a disappointing draw against Lecce
Milan came back to score 2 goals but it wasn’t enough to get them the 3 points, making the gap between them and first-placed Napoli even bigger
AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli was fuming with his players, demanding that they cut out “trivial mistakes” following their 2-2 draw which leaves them 9 points behind league leaders Napoli in the title race.
Speaking to DAZN, Pioli talked about
Milan’s mistakes, saying:
"In the first half, we missed everything we could possibly miss. We made unforced mistakes and the match became more difficult. We need to be more clear-headed."
Pioli went on to add:
"We are in line with last season, but it is also true that in this phase we are getting much less than we would like. We can do better and avoid trivial mistakes.
"We have to recover our principles of play and do it continuously."
With the Supercoppa Italiana on the way with Inter, some suggested that Milan was distraced by the fixture but Pioli denied these out of hand as he said:
"It's a straight match against a great opponent, so we'll do everything to be ready."
With Ante Rebic a doubt for the fixture against Inter,
Zlatan Ibrahimoviccould make his first appearance of the season following his knee surgery.
