Bergomi calls Lukaku’s performance against Monza “embarrassing”

Pushing for a return to Inter after an unsuccessful second spell at Chelsea, the Belgian has missed the majority of the season and the World Cup due to injury. Making his return in Inter's 2-2 draw with Monza, the former Inter player, Bergomi calls his display embarrassing.

After finding his form at

Inter Milan

and helping the Italian giants claim the Scudetto once again,

Romelu Lukaku

made a controversial move when he joined Chelsea immediately after winning the Serie A in 2021. However, the Belgian failed to live up to his €115m price tag as he returned to Inter on loan last summer, with injuries hampering his Serie A return.

Inter legend

Beppe Bergomi

criticized Lukaku's performance in the Nerazzurri's 2-2 draw against Monza. He told

Radio 24

: “

I was kidding myself with the first-half performance against Napoli, but when Lukaku came on against Monza, he was simply embarrassing.

“He couldn’t keep the ball, he seemed scared of it. I don’t know at this point if it is just a matter of his physical condition or his mental state too.

“It feels like he is carrying with him what happened at the World Cup.”
