Unai Emery might look to strengthen Villa midfield by signing an Atletico Madrid player

The Spanish manager is likely to continue Villa’s recent habit of sigining players from LaLiga as he looks to snatch up the Atletico Madrid midfielder.

Unai Emery has started strongly at Villa but the former Arsenal and PSG head coach might want to strengthen Aston Villa’s midfield by signing Atletico’s Geoffrey Kondogbia.

The

Villains

are no stranger to signing players from LaLiga as they have recently signed players like Philippe Coutinho and Diego Carlos from LaLiga.

Kondogbia has been playing less and less for Atletico recently as Simeone prefers other options to the former Inter Milan and Valencia midfielder. Villa might also be looking for a back-up to Douglas Luiz who was heavily linked with Arsenal on deadline day in summer and might still leave to join the Gunners.

On the other side, Atletico is very much open for business as they look to raise funds for a potential squad rebuild, with few of their players actually being unsellable. Rojiblancos have already moved on Mateus Cunha and Joao Felix might be next.

Kondogbia

is no exception either as he has already moved down the pecking order.

The 29-year-old France international’s contract runs until 2024 and Atletico will be looking to cash in on the player while they still can.
