United aims to bring in Cody Gakpo with a €50m bid

Netherlands’ World Cup star Cody Gakpo seems to be Man United’s main target in the upcoming January transfer window.

Telegraph reports that acquiring PSV winger

Cody Gakpo

will be Manchester United’s main focus in the January transfer window. Gakpo was Netherlands’ main man as they reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup, with him scoring 3 goals. It seems that in the wake of Ronaldo’s departure from the Old Trafford, ten Hag looks to sign a new attacking player.

Gakpo himself spoke about Manchester United’s interest during the World Cup.

“I thought about Manchester United, but when that didn’t happen, I couldn’t remember. And I started to doubt. Leeds did come. Should I go there? Now I wait everything. I haven’t heard from Manchester United yet. When they come, I’ll think about it. I also seek the help of God in these decisions.”

United boss also confirmed tehir plans for signing a new forward as he said:

“we want to sign a forward in January but only when we find the right player. We will do everything in our power.”

While the interest for Gakpo was there in the summer, signing

Antony

was of higher priority as

United

paid £85 million to sign the Brazilian. With Cristiano Ronaldo now gone from the club, United clearly need more firepower. If Gakpo can provide that or not remains to be seen though.
