Spain's boss Enrique hails "unordinary Gavi" after the 7-0 victory
La Masia graduate, Gavi opened his World Cup with a goal in La Roja's 7-0 domination of Costa Rica. Speaking to his Twitch channel, the Spain manager praised Gavi's abilities as "not ordinary".
The 18-year-old midfielder scored
Spain’s fifth goal in Al Thumama Stadium as La Roja dominated
Costa Rica. Gavi (18 years and 10 days) became the youngest World Cup goal scorer since Pele (17 years and 249 days) from the 1958 World Cup.
Speaking to his Twitch live stream on Thursday, Enrique said about
Gavi's abilities:
"It's not very normal, it's something out of the ordinary.
"We all realise how difficult it is to do it at the age that he does it.
"He has good defensive appreciation. Controlling his energy is one of the things Gavi is improving. Hopefully that impetus helps him to win many balls."
On the possible rotations he might make to his starting lineup in their next World Cup match against
Germany, Enrique added:
"I hardly repeat an eleven. It's hard for me. There will surely be some changes.
"They train so well that now anyone could play with a total guarantee of a good performance.
"Today we analyzed the Germany-Japan match, and we take into account its characteristics to find the players in the best shape."
