Ronaldo set to miss Portugal’s warm up game against Nigeria

The Portuguese star is going to miss Portugal’s friendly game against Nigeria prior to World Cup due to stomach problems.

Portugal manager, Fernando santos informed the press that Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Portugal’s game with Nigeria on Thursday after developing gastritis.

Ronaldo has had a busy few days after his interview with Piers Morgan and TalkTV caused a ruckus. However, Santos believes that Ronaldo’s interview will have no effect on Portugal. Ronaldo didn’t mention

but Manchester United teammate Bruno Fernandes was seen greeting him somewhat icily in Portugal’s training ground.

Speaking to the press, Santos said:

"

Ronaldo

has gastritis and did not train today in order to recover and rest. It's a condition that doesn't help much as it affects the players a lot, they lose a lot of liquid, they weaken. He won't be ready for tomorrow, for sure."

He then went on to dismiss the notion that his absence from the Nigeria game is in any way related to keeping him out of the spotlight following his explosive interview.

"He didn't have to inform us about the interview," Santos said. "Isn't he free [to make his decisions]?

"What I'm interested in is what is being spoken about in our camp and not what is being said outside. We have to respect his decision.

"We have to respect the interview he gave. It has nothing to do with the national team."

Portugal who is the first seed in Group H will face Ghana on November 24 before playing Uruguay and South Korea.
