Potter urges Chelsea to be ready for "special game" against Arsenal

Sitting 6th in the

Premier League

table, 10 points behind the leaders Arsenal,

urges Chelsea to bounce back from their last week shock defeat to Brighton. The Blues boss first gave an injury update on Ben Chilwell.

He said:

"He's going for a scan later this afternoon so we'll find out how he is then and there will be an update tomorrow.

“He feels ok but aware of the injury. We need to let the swelling settle down, hence the delay of the scan. We'll know after that. He's ok and at the moment we're hopeful until we get the diagnosis. From there we will aim to him back fit or strong."

Giving further injury update, he added: “

Kepa, no. I don't think he will play before the World Cup. Kovacic trained today so he will be in contention. Carney has a slight issue with his hamstring that we are getting to the bottom of.

On

intensity and his side's ambitions, Potter urged his side to bounce back from the bitter defeat against Brighton:

“It was a defeat we didn't like or enjoy, it would be strange if we did. The performance against Zagreb was professional and everyone has trained well.”

"If we don't do that in any game [matching the intensity] it's going to be a challenge for us. We have to be ready for a special game and we have to be ready to play the football to get us a result.

"It's whether the glass is half full or empty. We know the noise and we were disappointed at the weekend because we didn't play well. There was a good performance against Zagreb, have trained well, and we have to take that into Arsenal. It's a tough game but an exciting game.”

Praising 

's job at Arsenal, the Blues boss added:

"He has had to face some pressure from the outside and the club have stayed supportive. The younger players have got more experience and as I've said before, the coaching process gets better the more you're working.

Discussing his career at

so far, Potter mentioned

: “Objectively it's been seven wins, two draws and a defeat. There's been a lot of games in a short space of time, so actual training time has been very limited. We're getting to know the players all the time and I'm really happy with the response of the group. Performance wise we can do more and improve, that's exciting. But at the same time, when you look at the mess of the fixtures and the injuries, we've done ok. But there is room to improve.”

On

Aubameyang

facing his former club, the English coach added:

"It's a London derby, two good teams I think. Arsenal are doing really well and the history makes it an interesting one for Auba. But the past is the past as we're concerned.

"I don't think we should make it about him. He is an important part of the team for us but it takes everybody, not just one person. I understand the interest around him because it's Arsenal. I think he's looking forward to the game, excited for it. He's been pretty normal I say, quite a quiet guy."

Additionally, on the difficulties with World Cup's timing, Potter said:

"I don't think it's fear, it's just part of the challenge. It's very difficult to play Premier League football and go at it half-hearted, that's impossible."
