KNVB investigation reveals Brobbey was racially abused against Utrecht

Ajax striker was racially abused with monkey chants from FC Utrecht after scoring Ajax's second goal in a 2-0 win for the visitors as an independent investigation by the KNVB reveals. Accordingly, FC Utrecht has accepted a €10,000 fine.

During

Ajax's

2-0 victory over

FC Utrecht

at the Galgenwaard Stadium, Brian Brobbey was racially abused with monkey chants from FC Utrecht fans as the Eredivisie club has been handed a €10,000, which they reportedly have accepted. They also sent Brobbey a bouquet of flowers after the incident.

The Dutch striker spoke about the incident after the match:

"After the game I looked at my phone. My brother told me monkey noises were made.

"I couldn't care less, it doesn't move me. Let them talk, at the end of the day we won and they lost."

Last January, Brobbey went back on loan to Ajax, where he had grown up, and scored seven goals in 13 games to help

Erik ten Hag

's team win the title.

Ten Hag reportedly wanted to work with the 20-year-old again at Old Trafford, but Ajax, which needed a forward after selling Sebastien Haller to Borussia Dortmund, has now agreed to pay Leipzig €16.35 million upfront to complete a full transfer, with the deal possibly reaching €19.35 million.
