Leicester 0-1 Manchester City: De Bruyne free-kick broke the deadlock

Defending Champions, Manchester City moves to the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought victory against Leicester City on Saturday.

Manchester City beat Leicester City thanks to Kevin De Bruyne’s stunning goal in the second half at King Power Stadium on Saturday. Erling Haaland missed this game due to a foot injury.

Man City now is at top of the table with 29 points after 12 matches. Arsenal could return to the top with a win against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Leicester City stays in 17th place with just 11 points after 12 matches.

The ball was played over the top and De Bruyne managed to bring it down. Bernardo runs onto it and rifled a shot toward the goal but the goalkeeper keeps out the ball with his feet.

The first half finished goalless. Man City had the majority of the possession and they forced Leicester's keeper into some great saves. Leicester had only one shot on target.

Man City had a good chance at the start of the second half but Rodri's shot went just wide of the post.

De Bruyne broke the deadlock with a wonderful free-kick in the 48th minute. He curls it high over the wall and Leicester’s keeper could get nowhere near the strike as it bounces off the inside of the post at the top-left corner and into the back of the net.

Leicester could equalize just a few minutes later but Tielemans's powerful shot from Maddison’s corner rattled the bar after Ederson managed to tip it onto the bar.

Iheanacho who came on for Vardy in the second half could score in the 88th minute but Ederson saved his strike.
