Everton's Lampard hails Antonio Conte ahead of Tottenham clash

Urging his side to react to their weekend 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United in their upcoming game against Tottenham, Frank Lampard hailed Antonio Conte praising the squad he united at the Spurs.

Sitting 12th in the Premier League table with 10 points out of their 9 opening league matches,

Everton

will face 3rd-placed

Tottenham Hotspur

on Saturday after a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last Sunday.

Ahead of the Toffees' travel to meet Tottenham on Saturday,

Frank Lampard

urged the Toffees to use things they learned from the United loss in their upcoming match.

He told his press conference:

“We learned some things - you can do in defeats. Our first-half performance wasn't what we wanted. The spirit in the end was good. The important thing now is the reaction.

"You have to build up an element of trust with the players. With the group we've got, I don't feel we get kicked back. We want to get better. The two goals we conceded were: mistake, counter attack, goal. The structure of the team, we will always try and improve it."

Lampard provided further updates on

Calvert-Lewin

, Doucoure, Mina, and Holgate’s Injuries:

“[Calvert-Lewin] is not taking part in every part of training. We will have to see over the days and weeks how we get him to that optimum level."

“Doucs had a family issue but is back in the squad for Saturday. Yerry had a setback and so won't be available. Holgate is back in training."

Praising

James Garner

, Lampard is glad he proved his doubters wrong by not getting fired.

"You could say that about every run. We have shown things already this season that we can go against people's opinions of us. People were saying we were going down and I would be the first manager to go - there's nothing better than proving people wrong.

"It's a constant. The world we live in is from the greatest coach in the world to not very good with two defeats. I have to try and stay level and that feelings about me are not very important - It's about what the players and staff feel about me."

Asked whether

Everton's

current squad is the strongest Everton squad he's had, Lampard said:

"Since I came here, possibly. It feels like we have strong competition and that was partly due to our recruitment. There are areas we can get better at but we're in a decent place."

On reunion with

Richarlison

and his prediction of their opponents, the

Chelsea

legend said:

"Richarlison is a good lad and we will wish him well. He left with dignity and his head held high. Nothing more than that. He is very talented. He was always Brazil's No.9 when he was here. He is well-respected in the football world. We know him very well but his style is very unpredictable.

“Conte is a great coach, I know that from his Chelsea days. They have got fantastic players. He has a clear way of playing and they give you a huge threat, which we're aware of. They're a strong unit, fair play to them."

On

Patterson

and

Godfrey's

injuries, he added:

"They are both training. Patterson, we are hoping, will be fit in two to three weeks. Ben is a bit behind - we're probably looking at the other side of the World Cup break."

On

Iwobi

and the possibility of signing a new contract, the English coach said:

"His form has been great. I felt and always saw he would be dangerous in the middle area of the pitch. Opening the pitch up more has been a help for him. I still think there is more to come.

"Kevin is speaking with Alex's people on that front. We will see how that develops."

Lampard ended his conference by praising

Anthony Gordon

's discipline:

"It is something to analyse and I've had those discussions with him. I don't want to lose him for a game, that's the reality of it. There are obvious reasons you would want to address that. I have spoken to him about it."
