Liverpool dealt a blow with Diaz’s injury

will not be available for Liverpool until after the World Cup in Qatar as he sustained a knee injury in their battle against Arsenal, according to Jurgen Klopp. Moreover, he will be out of action from six to eight months. The winger, who joined the club from Porto and played a crucial role in the Reds’ FA Cup and EFL Cup victories last season, suffered the injury during the clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

Although the tests did not show a need for surgery for the 25-year-old, he will be sidelined for a few months. Diaz was not the only player to have been injured against the Gunners, as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip joined him on the sideline.

Klopp spoke to the media before their battle against Rangers in the Champions League and he provided update on Diaz’ recovery and how his injury was not worse.

"I thought we were a little bit lucky with Trent because ankle didn't look good,"

Klopp said on Tuesday.

"Lucho [Diaz], it's six to eight weeks or whatever. He looks a quick healer, but we have to be careful. It could have been worse. It's not great, but it's the situation, and we have to deal with it. 

"Joel felt his calf a little bit and had a scan and is out as well."

Alexander-Arnold and Matip will probably be back before the mid-season pause while Diaz’s situation became a blow for Liverpool who were aiming for the Premier League title. Diaz met the back of the net four times in 12 matches this season, with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah being the only other Liverpool players who bettered him.

Liverpool will lock horns with Southampton on November 12 and it is going to be their final Premier League clash before the World Cup in Qatar. Diaz will probably return to action for their battle against Aston Villa on December 26.
