Liverpool's Luis Diaz ruled out until after World Cup with knee injury

Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is expected to be out until December after suffering a knee injury against Arsenal on Sunday.

Luis Diaz

suffered a knee injury during Sunday's 3-2 Premier League defeat at Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp after the game said his situation is not good and will require a scan to determine how long he will be out of action.

The English press now reports that the scan has shown no surgery will be necessary but Diaz will be out until December. Liverpool will play 10 matches until 13 November before the World Cup in Qatar.

Liverpool

returns to action against Aston Villa on 26 December and it is expected Diaz will be ready by then.

The 25-year-old Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto last January in a deal worth around €45 million. He has scored 10 goals in 38 matches so far for the Reds. Diaz won the Fa Cup and EFL Cup with Liverpool last season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

also suffered an ankle injury against Arsenal and was withdrawn at half-time.

Liverpool will face Rangers on Wednesday in the Champions League and then will play Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

Klopp's side is in 10th place in the Premier League with 10 points after eight matches. They are 14 points behind leaders Arsenal and Klopp after defeat at Emirates Stadium admitted that his team is out of the title race on October.
