Chelsea: Wesley Fofana will be out for at least four weeks

Wesley Fofana is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a sprained knee.

Wesley Fofana

has a "sprained" knee and will be out for at least four weeks. After limping out of last night's game, this is not the best news for

Chelsea

, but it is also not the worst news we had dreaded.

The 21-year-old suffered a knee injury during a challenge from

Rafael Leao

, and although attempting to continue playing twice, he ultimately had to retire. "From laughter to tears," he said on Instagram after scoring his first goal for the club less than ten minutes earlier.

Fofana was observed exiting the stadium on crutches with his right knee in a brace, which strongly indicates that something serious had occurred. (Having spent the last few years recovering from ACL surgery, I often presume that all knee injuries are ligament tears.)

So, ideally this report is genuine and this is the complete extent of the diagnosis, unlike

Ben Chilwell

's situation last year, in which we tried to rehab the injury for a month before giving up and having him undergo surgery.
