Arteta believes Arsenal may benefit from Jesus' Brazil omission

The Spanish coach claims that Jesus' absence from Brazil's squad may benefit Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has claimed that his side could take advantage of Gabriel Jesus' absence from the Brazil squad and the Brazilian star is aiming to show his team what they are missing.

Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League table before Saturday's match against Tottenham, but none of the Brazilian players of this team are in Tite's squad for the matches before the World Cup. Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli and Jesus were all present in the previous list published by Tite, but there is no news of them for the matches before the World Cup in Qatar.

Jesus, who has scored 4 goals and 3 assists in 7 league games, has received many praises, but it seems that he could not attract Tite's attention. While praising the Brazilian striker, Arteta claimed that he has found an additional motivation to prove himself.

The Spanish manager said:

"He's incredibly humble.

"He accepted the decision and the way he trained, it was just: 'Okay, I need to improve. I need to get better. I need to do more. I really want to be there [at the World Cup], it's a big aspiration for me, it's an incredible opportunity. And I'm in the right place to do that.'

Tottenham striker Richarlison is considered a direct competitor of Jesus in the Brazilian national team, and the two will face each other in today's match. Asked about their confrontation, Arteta said:

"So, I think we will see that on the pitch again."

Arteta added:

"He can only control what he can do. He cannot control what other players do. And he's only focusing on that.

"So, he has ambition. We know that he plays with incredible commitment. And [on Saturday] he will play that way."
