Madison blames the players for Leicester City's struggles, not Rodgers

After Tottenham thrashed Leicester, James Maddison defended manager Brendan Rodgers.

Leicester midfielder James Maddison has sprung to Brendan Rodgers' defense as the criticism on the Northern Irishman mounts. Tottenham defeated Leicester City 6-2 on Saturday night, with Son Heung-min scoring a hat-trick in the second half. In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Rodgers acknowledged the pressure on his future, but Maddison defended his manager.

James Maddison claims the players, not Brendan Rodgers, are to blame for Leicester City's recent struggles. “Definitely, it’s a collective. It’s not the manager. We’re the eleven out there.”

“We worked so hard this week on the training pitch for this game.” James Maddison said about the 6-2 thrashing by Tottenham.

After being left out of the England team this week, James Maddison has stated that his current focus lies with Leicester City. “The England stuff isn’t at the forefront of my mind when we’re bottom of the Premier League.”

Leicester City's lack of a solid defensive unit has been highlighted by James Maddison: “If I told you how many hours we’ve done working on that.”
