Gavi: "It's a dream to play for Barcelona"
Gavi has signed a new deal at Camp Nou and calls it a "dream" to continue his career with Barcelona.
After signing a four-year agreement to remain at
Camp Nou
through the end of June 2026,
Gavi
described his tenure with
Barcelonaas "a dream." This week, it was announced that the 18-year-old has signed a new contract with the Blaugrana.
Gavi is a promising young player who will likely be a part of
Spain's World Cup roster after making 47 appearances for Barca and scoring two goals last season, helping Xavi's side back to the top of LaLiga.
At the press conference when he announced his new contract, Gavi remarked on how humbling it was to play for Barca after graduating from their prestigious
La Masia
youth program.
"I'm very happy. I have always wanted to succeed at Barca. My family, my representative and I have been clear that we wanted to succeed here. Scoring goals wearing this shirt in front of the best fans in the world is a dream. I try to take it as normal as possible, [and] at La Masia, and they helped me a lot.
"La Masia is something unique, and I am grateful to everyone. The chefs, the teachers, the coaches, everyone. They taught me to work and to be humble. My favourite moment? The day I scored my first goal for Barca's first team will always stay with me."
