David Silva excited about Guardiola's ‘Haaland’ generation at Man City

The Citizens' icon who served the club for 10 years laid praise on “natural-born goalscorer’ Haaland while excited to see what Guardiola's new generation would bring to the club as the Spaniard helped the club to win four Premier League titles, but failed in the task of Champions League.

David Silva

joined Sociedad from

Manchester City

in 2020, and still in good form, he returned to visit his old colleagues at the club after beating their arch-rivals,

Manchester United

at Old Trafford.

Real Sociedad

put an end to the Red Devils' domestic run of victories as they beat them 1-0 in their Europa League clash last week.

Speaking to

ManCity.com

, the Spaniard couldn’t help himself to praise their summer marquee signing,

Erling Haaland

. The Premier League champions signed the

Norwegian

striker for a reported £51 million deal from

Dortmund

this summer, and the Norwegian fast-tracked his career at

Manchester City

scoring nine goals in his first five Premier League appearances, as well as scoring twice in his Champions League debut for his new club.

Silva said:

"Erling Haaland is scoring lots of goals, which of course is good for the team. He's scoring in games where it's hard to find a way through. He's a born goalscorer, we've seen it in his previous clubs too, and here I'm sure he will do even better."

The Man City icon went on praising the club's process and their constant task of "changing the situation". Praising his former coach

Pep Guardiola,

the Spaniard hopes

this new promising generation

could award the Citizens their long-sought

Champions League

trophy this year.

Silva added:

"It's generations isn't it. We were the first set who were tasked with trying to change the situation Man City found itself in. And now they are doing really well. We all know the incredible work Pep [Guardiola] is doing. The players are also very good.

"They have adapted very well. They are always winning the Premier League and fighting in Europe too. That's the last thing left to do. Everything I was told when I arrived is in the process of happening."
