Huddersfield fired Schofield after Wigan defeat

Huddersfield has had very poor results at the start of the new season and is far from expectations.

Danny Schofield has been sacked as

Huddersfield

manager after a 2-1 defeat at

Wigan

on Tuesday and a poor start to the new season.

The 42-year-old head coach took charge of the team in July after the departure of Carlos Corberan, but in 9 games, he won only 1 win and 1 draw. These poor results finally forced the club to announce the end of cooperation with him and fire him from the bench.

Club's statement reads:

"Danny Schofield has today been relieved of his duties as head coach of Huddersfield Town.

"The decision was made after Tuesday evening's Championship defeat at home to Wigan, which took our competitive record during Danny's time as permanent head coach to one win and one draw in nine competitive matches.

"Narcis Pelach and Paul Harsley will take temporary charge and lead the team into Saturday's league game at home to Cardiff.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank Danny for his hard work and dedication and wishes him the very best for the future."

Huddersfield have scored only 4 points from their opening 8 games in the Championship and are ranked 23rd in the table. They are 5 points away from the relegation zone.
