Kepa starts in goal for Chelsea, with Aubameyang set to debut

Thomas Tuchel has dropped Edouard Mendy for Chelsea's Champions League opener against Dinamo Zagreb, with Kepa Arrizabalaga starting instead.

Thomas Tuchel

didn't want

Edouard Mendy

to play in

Chelsea

's first Champions League game against

Dinamo Zagreb

, so he benched him and put Kepa Arrizabalaga in his place.

Even though Thomas Tuchel defended Mendy to the press over the weekend, he put Kepa in goal on Tuesday, which has led to more talk of a goalkeeper controversy.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, on the other hand, will make his Blues debut after moving from Barcelona on the last day of the transfer window. Aubameyang will play with a protective mask on his face because he hurt his jaw during a recent home invasion.

Mendy no longer plays goalie because he made too many mistakes at the beginning of the season. Tuchel will want his team to get off to a good start in Europe on Tuesday night before they play Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
