Chelsea in talks to sign Leipzig's Gvardiol

Chelsea is in advanced talks with RB Leipzig over the signing of defender Josko Gvardiol.

According to Fabrizio Romano,

Chelsea

is in talks with

Leipzig

to sign

Josko Gvardiol

next summer for €90 million.

Chelsea was interested in signing him earlier in the summer but Leipzig was unwilling to sell the Croatian defender this summer and now Chelsea is trying to reach an agreement for the 2023 summer.

Chelsea lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer and was in the market for central defenders. They already have signed Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella and are on the verge of signing joined Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana.

Thiago Silva's contract expires at the end of the season and Thomas Tuchel wants to sign another defender. Romano claims that Chelsea has submitted a €90 million bid today and negotiations are ongoing. The 20-year-old Gvardiol is one of the most promising defenders in world football and many top European teams are interested in signing him.

Chelsea has spent £168.2 million on transfers so far this summer, as new owner Todd Boehly begins life at Stamford Bridge. They are also ready to pay around €90 million to Leicester for Fofana.
