Breaking: Newcastle United to sign Sociedad's Alexander Isak for £59m

Being linked with a move to the Magpies all the summer, the only obstacle in the transfer of Sweden international to the Premier League outfit was Real Sociedad demanded Newcastle pay his £76m release clause. However, two clubs have eventually settled for a £59m deal.

According to

the Mirror's journalist, Colin Millar

,

Newcastle United

has reached an agreement with the La Liga side to sign their prolific striker,

Alexander Isak

in a £59million deal that can eventually rise to £63million through add-ons. In addition to the fact that 10% of a future sale is reserved by the La Liga club.

The 22-year-old has contributed 43 goals and eight assists in the 128 appearances he’s made for Sociedad. He also has scored nine goals in his 37 Swedish caps. Newcastle is ready to push for a place in Europe next season as the Swede will be the driving force of their forward line.

This summer Eddie Howe’s side has already signed

Nick Pope

from Burnley for £10m. Despite signing Dan Burn in January and Fabian Schar in May Newcastle has signed Lille's

Sven Botman

for £35m.

Since

Real Sociedad

only has Jon Karrikaburu as an available forward after the injury of

Carlos Fernández

, the La Liga club is likely to look into the market for further reinforcement.

Valencia

and Real Sociedad are reportedly competing for the transfer of Tottenham winger,

Bryan Gil

, who failed to live up to expectations in North London and made only 20 appearances for the Premier League club, registering just one assist during that time.
