Wolwerhampton signed Nunes with a record-breaking fee

The Portuguese star has become Wolverhampton's latest transfer signing.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

have confirmed that

Matheus Nunes

has joined the club in a record-breaking transfer.

The Portuguese midfielder left

Sporting

with a 5-year contract and went to Molineux Stadium. Wolverhampton are rumored to have paid 45 million euros for the transfer, which could rise to 50 million euros with add-on clauses. The 23-year-old midfielder was close to participating in the Premier League last season, but in the end, he stayed in Portugal and went to the UK this summer.

He told club's website:

"I'm very excited. For me, I could play tomorrow already, but I can't because the game is Saturday, but I'm looking forward to it

"I think the club itself [convinced me] and also I spoke to some of my team-mates because I play with them for the national team.

"The coach as well, he really wanted me, and I wanted to play in the Premier League. I think it's the right next step for me, and I'm very happy to be here."
