Worst experience of my life - former Man Utd star

Ryan Giggs cried in court when he talked about his night in a police cell due to the alleged assault on his former girlfriend and said it was “the worst experience” on his life.

Ryan Giggs

said he was “scared” when he talked to the police officers at his home on November 1, 2020 and he had "never been in that position before".

The former

Manchester United

is in trial as he is accused of assaulting his former girlfriend Kate Greville, as well as her sister Emma.

However, he denies the allegation, and then he talked about the experience he had with the police officers.

"Worst experience of my life,"

he said of his night in a cell.

The 48-year-old said he had “hardly any” sleep and talked to a solicitor the next day for the first time.

Ms. Greville says that Giggs had his hands on her shoulders and then headbutted her in the assault.

However, the ex-Wales manager said that the two “clashed heads” in a “sort of tug-of-war” when he was trying to get her phone in the argument.

Chris Daw QC, representing Giggs, asked:

"Did you at any stage put your hands on Kate's shoulders and forcibly and deliberately headbutt her in the face?"

"No, I didn't,"

Giggs replied.

He told the judge he and Ms. Greville “totally lost balance” and “slipped” on bags, resulting in him landing on top of her.

He said he got subjected to "six, seven kicks to the head" and suffered "several cuts" around his mouth.

Quizzed whether he deliberately elbowed Ms. Greville's sister Emma during the incident, Giggs replied:

"No."
