Barcelona squad for Rayo Vallecano clash has shock absences
The Blaugrana’s return to action is very close as they are set to go against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday evening. They announced their squad list in the morning and there have been some surprises.
Players like Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Raphinha, Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto are all part of the squad as they have been registered recently. Jules Kounde, however, has yet to be registered, but he is said to be dealing with discomfort.
Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite are not included in the squad as well as Sergino Dest. Despite Sergi Roberto being regarded as a right-back, Dest is
Barcelona’s only natural right-back and was said to be competing for a rotational position in the 2022-23 season. However, being absent has shown that Xavi does not consider him a starter.
Inaki Pena and Gavi are also not registered as first-team players and are in the squad as B team players, notwithstanding the fact that they are expected to go to the first team.
Alejandro Balde has the same situation, while Ez Abde is left out.
