Ancelotti: Rudiger may not start at center-back for Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is thinking about using Antonio Rudiger at the left-back position.

Rudiger

joined Real Madrid this summer as a free agent after his contract with Chelsea expired.

The Germany international played at left-back during

Real Madrid's

1-0 defeat to Barcelona in pre-season in Las Vegas on Sunday morning, and Ancelotti says he is thinking about using him in this position regularly.

"I liked him a lot. I am not crazy and he is very intelligent,"

the Italian said after the loss.

"He can play in that position, just as he can also change in the match with Alaba. They didn't do so today, because it went well.

"[Alaba] as a left-back, only when necessary. I don't want to change the pair from last year.”

Real Madrid has signed Rudiger and

Aurelien Tchouameni

this summer and Ancelotti says it is unlikely they sign another player.

He said:

“The squad is finalized and we have many players. I think we have a better squad than the one we had last year. You can see that the intensity in training has improved.”

Real Madrid will play with Club America and Juventus in their pre-season tour and later will face Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt in the Super Cup.
