Jordi Alba welcomes competition in Barcelona left-back
The experienced defender is ready to compete with his new rivals at left-back.
Alba, who joined Barcelona in 2012, has been one of the most effective players of his team during his 10-year presence in this club and has played an important role in the success. During this time, he has competed with many players, including Adriano, Lucas Digne and recently Junior Firpo, and none of them could fill his place in the team.
However, there are rumors that Barca are looking to sign another defender in the summer to compete with Alba. After the 1-0 victory against Real Madrid, the Spanish defender claimed that he welcomes any competition in his position.
He said:
“I always think I have competition. I motivate myself because I am at the best club in the world. Barca have given me everything and that is my daily motivation. I am very fortunate. I want to continue winning titles. That is what makes the people happy. And I think we are on the right track.”
“These days any player can make you look silly and take your place. I deal with it as I think all of us have to do so. If another player comes on the left side, perfect.”
“The signings are very good and of great quality, they strengthen us a lot. What we had already was very good but the additions we have made are very good. We have great competition.”
